Comments on Game Design


When I look back on Beautiful Kingdom, I can see a game that I am proud of. It was my first and only game so far, but it has taught me a lot of valuable lessons in game design.

One lesson I learned is,

People like treasure: Players always run around for the treasure. They will climb mountains, solve puzzles, and even delve through hours of horrible story line for the treasure box. It's like a casino of sorts in these games. I am not saying there is anything wrong with this; however, it's important to have OP (over powered) items be somewhat challenging to posses.
